Jan 24, 2016(Nyamilepedia) —— Counsel Dong Luak Kok, a South Sudanese Lawyer and human rights activist, who has been living and studying in Nairobi, Kenya, has gone missing last night.

Speaking to family members in Nairobi, Kenya, Dong left home on Monday morning to attend late afternoon classes at Mount Kenya University in Nairobi.

According to Gatluak, a family member who spoke to Nyamilepedia, Dong’s classes started at 5pm and ended at 7:20pm, however, Dong never made it home yesterday evening as usual.

The family members tried to call his cellphone number at 11pm but it was never returned.

A call to Mount Kenya University confirmed that Dong attended his classes and left school before 7:30pm.

No one knows exactly what happened yesterday evening; however, Kenyan authority who recently kidnapped and deported James Gatdet Dak, a spokesperson to SPLM/A-IO Chairman, Dr. Riek Machar Teny, remains the prime suspect.

From July 2016, Kenya shifted its neutral position to support Salva Kiir government and James Gatdet’s deportation was allegedly paid at worth $10 million US Dollar.

Gatdet was deported allegedly because of a Facebook comment he made on South Sudan politics regarding the role of UNMISS in which a Kenyan military general was implicated.

Dong Luak was also attacked and brutally beaten in his house on October 12th, 2015.

He was rushed to hospital where he was treated but South Sudan government officials including the controversial First Vice President Taban Deng Gai continued to warn him.

Dong is a renowned lawyer, who has served under Dr. John Garang de Mabior and under Salva Kiir’s leadership in various portfolios.

Apart from running a law firm in Juba before fleeing into exile, Dong participated in drafting of South Sudan constitution and has written extensively about human rights and good governance.

In other report, more South Sudanese politicians including Aggrey Idri, the former deputy chairperson of the national committee for economic affairs and resources mobilization for the SPLM-IO, are reportedly missing.

More investigations are underway!
