Police Arrested Six Suspects After a Light Fire Armed Shooting in Juba During New Year Eve

Jan 3, 2017(Nyamilepedia) —-– South Sudan National Police service spokesperson, Brig Gen. Daniel Justice told Nyamilepedia Press that Police have arrested six suspects while attempting to break into a shop in Gudele II residential area in Juba on January 1st, 2017.

“This incidence took place in Gudele II real areas in Juba at the night hours of the 31 December.2016,” Brig. Justice said.

The Brigadier general claimed that the suspects were arrested by a joint patrol unit of the organized forces before they could go through with the act. He says that they are now in police custody for investigations.

“We have filed a case against them at the police and they are undergoing investigations” he said.

Mary Ayen, a resident who was interviewed by our Press Team, praised police service saying that she is very happy for this year Christmas and joint security organs operations in the city.

Authorities have described the New Year celebrations this time “as calm with no reported cases of celebratory shootings” which have always led to crimes in the previous years.

The police spokesman claimed that security has been beefed up in all parts of the Country as citizens prepare to celebrate Christmas.

In Terekeka state, the government has deployed security forces along major roads connecting the state with the neighboring states, however, at least two civilians were killed in Yei town in their house during the night of Christmas Eve.
