Dec 14, 2016(Nyamilepedia) —– Festus Mogae, Chairman of JMEC, has congratulated President Salva Kiir on his introduction of the National Dialogue initiative, unveiled in his speech to Parliament today.

Mogae, who is believe to be the initiator of the National Dialogue, is delighted and touched by President’s call for a national dialogue.

“I am delighted to hear President Kiir reach out to his people with such strong and heartfelt words and launch this much-needed National Dialogue initiative.” Mogae said.

Despite that the war is still continuing in many parts of the country, Mogae believes that President Kiiir seized a critical opportunity for a national reconciliation.

“The President has seized a critical opportunity for national reconciliation, appealed for a spirit of forgiveness and togetherness and set in motion a genuine campaign to address the concerns and grievances of the South Sudanese people.” He said.

The Botswana’s former president throws his full support behind president Salva Kiir. He promises that JMEC will work for President Salva Kiir.

“I applaud his leadership and I give my assurance that JMEC will support the National Dialogue in any way we can.” Mogae happily promises.

Since July, 2016, the JMEC chairman has shown interest to implement the Peace Agreement with President Salva Kiir irregardless of whether the oppositions factions under the SPLM/SPLA(IO) and SPLM(FDs) join the peace implementation.

On Wednesday, President Salva Kiir called for a National Dialogue and asked for forgiveness, a speech that has been controversially received by many South Sudanese.

According to critics, Kiir’s speech lacks sincerity as his forces are busy weighing war in Equatoria at his direction. In September, Kiir threatened to lead military operation in Yei River State to crush rebellions.

For his September speech, the international community, JMEC and IGAD have expressed their disappointment and feared that the president speech will lead to a genocide like that of Rwanda.

Observers believe that it is because of such blames that are forcing President Salva Kiir to call for a national dialogue amid intense fighting in Equatoria, Upper Nile, Unity State and Western Bhar el Ghazal.

Contrary to his speech, President salva Kiir did not mention of his rivals, Dr. Riek Machar, Pagan Amum and other politicians who are forced to exile.

The speech did not present a concrete plans for the internationally displaced persons(IDPs) and refugees across East Africa.
