Starving Mother Leaves Her Baby With a Taxi Conductor in Juba, Arrested For Negligence

Nov 20, 2016(Nyamilepedia) —-– A 19-year old woman has been arrested by police and charged for Child neglect on November 18 at Munuki Police station.
“The young mother left her newborn baby with a public taxi at morning hours ‘around 10AM’ and she never returned to pick up the child,” Police said.

Charles Matur, a Sergeant Police Officer, told press that the young mother was arrested by custom public taxi station police.
“On 18 November at about 10AM, it is alleged that the suspect left her seven-day-old baby girl with a taxi conductor at Custom Public Taxi Park and said she will be back shortly she is going to buy pampers from shop,” Matur said.
The Police added that the woman never returned and the taxi conductor took the baby to the taxi park police post within custom public taxi park.
The baby was then taken to a place of safety in which the police revealed to Press is where she is currently being taken care of.
“The woman was later arrested at Mauna residential area with help of BodaBoda ‘Motor bike Riders’ and tipped up to police,” Matur said.
Police said a case of child neglect was opened at Munuki police station under South Sudan penal code act 2008 and she is under police custody for further legal procedures.
Nyamilepedia press reached child’s mother whom her name will not be published in accordance with child protection protocols, she revealed to Press that she has no any source of income to take care of this child.
“I lost both parent in 2011, I conceived this child from businessman who is not within the Country since I got pregnant I did not see him again,” she said.
