Revitalization of South Sudan Economy Meetings in Uganda

August 29, 2016(Nyamilepedia) —— In its first day of a two-day meeting organized by the Ugandan government following the meeting held recently in the Ugandan capital Kampala between the South Sudanese President H. E. Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit and his counterpart the Ugandan President, H. E. Yuweri Kaguta Museveni, the South Sudan Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Hon. Stephen Dhieu Dau and the accompanying delegation held a fruitful meeting with The Ugandan Minster of Finance, Hon. Matia Kasaija in the Ministry of Finance, Economic development and Planning in Kampala on Monday.

The meeting discussed important issues in the areas of Macro-economic stability and economic management, how to promote a private sector-led growth strategy and others.

The Ugandan Minister of Finance was joined at the meeting by the Deputy Governor, Central Bank of Uganda, Hon. Louis A. Kasekende, Atony General of the Republic of Uganda, Fredrick Ruhindi, The Ugandan Ambassador to South Sudan, Maj. Gen. Robert Rusoke and staff from the Ministry of Finance the Republic of Uganda.

The Minister of Finance, Hon. Stephen also held a meeting with the current Commissioner General of Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) Hon. Madam Doris Akol to discuss on a number of issues regarding revenue administration and revenue collections for South Sudan to benefit from the Uganda experience in these aspects.

The delegation accompanied the Minister form Juba comprised of:
• Prof. Mathew Gordon Udo, Undersecretary, Ministry of Agriculture
• Hon. Jeremiah Swaka Moses, Undersecretary, Ministry of Justice
• Hon. Wani Buyu Dyori, Undersecretary, Ministry of Finance
• Eng. Awow Daniel Chuang, DG, Ministry of Finance
• Mr. Albino Chol Thiik, DG, Ministry of Finance
• Amb. Moses Akol, DG, Ministry of Foreign Affairs
• Mr. Gieth Abraham Dauson, Minister’s Office, Ministry of Finance

Ambassador Sarah Victor Majok, Deputy Head of Mission at the South Sudan Embassy to Uganda also joined the Minister in the meetings.

How the heck do you revitalized an economy that 90% of its revenue is from one source the oil. The campaign to pump out more Nuer Oil to keep the Jaang government a float is not revitalization. Its a robbery and constitute theft of resources.
