July 2, 2016(Nyamilepedia) —– A member of South Sudan national security, Lt Cole George Gismala, was shot on July 2 at Kator residential area by “unknown gunmen”.

According to eye witnesses, his body was dragged into unidentified vehicle and quickly driven off to unknown location.

Speaking to SPLA-IO officials, George is believed dead, however, his body was not yet found.

George served in South Sudan national security before the conflict split the army and the national security behind the two principles, Salva Kiir and Dr. Riek Machar.

George switched allegiance to SPLM/SPLA-IO under the First Vice President, Dr. Riek Machar Teny in 2014.

He returned to the capital in December 2015 as part of the SPLM/A-IO advanced team and continued to served under the first vice president until yesterday, July 2nd 2016.

Although no one claimed responsibility for his kidnapping, the incident coincides with the wedding of Salva Kiir’s daughter who was wedded at Katore Cathedral on July 2nd.

The motive of his disappearance, which is attributed to the national security, are yet to be established.

Within the last two years, South Sudan capital has witnessed many cases that include murder, torture, rapes and forced disappearance in the hands of “unknown gunmen”.

No one is held responsible for such activities so far.

  • Ask Kiir to tell his unknown gunmen to return the body.
    Time to scrap the institution of national security conpletely. The normal police force can look after policing. And a secret thought police operating outside the laws on command of a President but without public oversight a very dangerous situation. This almost always leads to horrors with mysterious disappearance of individuals exercising their constitutional rights, when the big men feel that the indivuduals expose them.Corruption only thrives where there is no public oversight.
