Feb 04, 2016(Nyamilepedia) —- The forces belong to the Government of the Republic of South Sudan has blocked the SPLM/A [IO] river barges destined for Juba through the River Nile, and the forces are well prepared to attack the SPLM/A [IO] cantonment areas in Buaw, Nhialdiu and Port Adok el Bar in Unity State, the Deputy Spokesperson of Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition Dickson Gatluak Jock Nyuot has revealed.

“South Sudan forces are planning to attack Cantonment areas of Buaw, Nhialdiu and port Adok Bar in Unity state. Their intention is to block barges from SPLA-IO forces leaving for Juba on the Nile River,” said Dickson Gatluak in his Facebook page update today.

The Arrangement on the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan signed in August 2015 stipulates that South Sudan armed opposition led by former Vice President and Vice President designate Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon and the Government of the Republic of South Sudan under President Salva Kiir Mayardit should move their respective forces to 25 KM away outside South Sudan capital Juba; only a handful of forces as prescribed by the Agreement should be allowed inside Juba as Guards to President and his Deputy. The SPLM-IO has been organizing to transfer the Guards to Juba before Dr. Riek Machar finally lands in Juba to implement TGoNU.

“The Office of the SPLA-IO would like to inform South Sudanese population, IGAD-PLUS and International partners that government forces have moved out of their deployment areas and have been assembling at Tharwang Yiela, Torabieth, and Unity Oil fields in order to attack SPLA-IO at their respective positions across the state. They are on the final stages of preparation to attack our Cantonment areas in Unity State,” continued Dickson.

On Wednesday, South Sudan Minister of Information Michael Makuei Lueth accused SPLM/A [IO] for blocking all the roads leading to Beniu fearing for immanent attack on their forces; a claim bluntly denied by James Gatdet Dak, spokesperson in the office of the SPLM-IO leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny.

“Finally, security sources confirmed to us that Government soldiers are taking their families to UNMISS Protection of Civilian Sites in Bentiu so as to cover up their planned attack on our Assembly points in the above mentioned locations in Unity State,” confirmed Deputy Spokesperson of SPLM/A[IO].

“We therefore reserve the right to defend ourselves though we remain fully committed to peaceful implementation of the Compromise Peace Agreement.”
