July 30, 2015(Nyamilepedia) — Speaking in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on Thursday, the chairman of SPLM/SPLA [IO], Dr. Riek Machar Teny, salutes the martyrs of over five decades of South Sudan liberation that led to independent of the country on 9th July, 2011.

“This important day reminds the people of this young nation of the spilt blood of our heroes and heroines who sacrificed their lives in the struggle for freedom, independence and sovereignty of our beloved country.” Dr. Machar said.

Explaining the significant of the martyrs’ day, Dr. Machar remembers the life of his colleague and the first president of Southern Sudan, Dr. John Garang de Mabior, who perished in a controversial helicopter crash while leaving the neighboring Uganda on July 29th, 2005.

“On this day we remember and celebrate the live of our first president of Southern Sudan, late Dr. John Garang de Mabior, and millions others whose blood has cemented the hard won independence of the nascent country.” Machar said.

The Chairman of the armed opposition, SPLM/SPLA, which has been battling the government of Salva Kiir, Uganda and allied rebels from Sudan, reiterates that it is unfortunate that the young country is shedding more blood despite her independence.

“It is unfortunate that our people have continued to shed blood after independence to resist a dictatorship that threatens to deny them freedom, democracy, justice and development which millions died for during decades of liberation struggle.”

Dr. Machar hopes that the situation shall be overcome and peace, stability and prosperity shall reign in the world’s youngest nation once again.

South Sudan has marked two of its four independence anniversaries in brutal civil war in which tens of thousands have died and more than two millions displaced from their homes.

The two sides have been accused of violations of fundamental human rights, war crimes and crimes against humanity.

According to the latest report by the UN Human Right Watch, the government has committed illicit war crimes, rapes, castrations of young boys, and destruction of lives and property in the Nuer-dominated counties of Unity State between May to July, 2015.

Long live Dr. Machar. We believe that through you, peace will engulf this young new nation democratically and in fendamental transformation. The dictator salva kiir mayar have been harvesting a garden he did not saw, and now turned back to the civilians, killing them, burning them and varied them alive this led to the introduction of discrimination and the human rights violation. It was clear that kiir would not bring peace to this country. Now it is time for kiir to park his every thing and go alternatively whether through military solution or through peace. Kiir must go, kiir must give peace chance to engulf the country. No more with kiir, machar forever.
