August 21, 2021—Juba based civil society activist, Mr. Wani Michael, who was arrested in July for protesting bad driving, said he narrowly survived an attempt on his life.
Michael, a known political activist who advocates for the rights of vulnerable population in the country, said he narrowly survived an attempt to crash him to death by people he was yet to identify.
In a brief statement on his official page, Michael says the car was advertently driven towards him to knock him down but he says his God protected him.
“One of these guys driving fully tinted cars attempted to intentionally knock me but my good God save me”, he stated in a statement.
” Youāll never intimidate me and all your evil plans to harm my life will never work. Just know God is watching at his poor South Sudanese children. Am safe and sound!”, the statement added.
Wani Michael is the Executive Director of “Okay Africa” and he has been selected as a member of the Permanent Constitutional Making Process in the country representing the Civil Society groups.
In July he was arrested along with other activists for protesting against foreign drivers who are always causing fatal accidents in South Sudan but they were later released unconditionally.
