MEMBERS OF THE SPLM IN GREATER KANSAS CITY( MISSOURI/KANSAS) DEFECT TO THE OPPOSITION UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF DR. RIEK MACHAR

Press Release

splm-kansas

July 21, 2014(Nyamilepedia) — After having waited for nearly six months, collecting all the credible information about the ongoing conflict in our country, and having taken the western countries’ stand, and lately, president Yoweri Museveni of Uganda, a close ally of President Salva Kiir, as a matter of fact, the man who facilitate the Juba Nuer massacre  and rescued the  government of Salva Kiir and his gangs from a point of collapse in the early days of  civilians massacre in Juba; and has his troops currently fighting alongside Salva Kiir.

Said, it openly clear that what happened in juba on Dec/15/13 was not a coup but a political disagreement within SPLM,  also with the coming of  Hon. Reath Muoch Tang, former member of the South Sudan National legislative Assembly and former chairperson of Upper Nile, SPLM caucus, in the National Assembly, who was designated by  the leadership of the former Vice President Dr Riek Machar, now turned Rebel leader, to come and educate the South Sudanese communities in the US about the genesis of the conflict.

It become clear that Salva Kiir instigated this war in order for him to consolidate his power. Therefore, we the people of Greater Kansas City (Missouri/Kansas) concluded that this crisis was created by the president of the Republic of South Sudan and we hold him responsible for the loss of thousands of lives, suffering of our people in country and must face ICC.

President Kiir’s dictatorial tendency did not start in Dec/15/13 incident, but a manifestation of a number of incidences. Prominent among others include the killing of journalist, Isiaih Abraham in Juba in 2012, land grabbing, Killing of Murlee and the killing of peaceful and innocent protestors in Wau in December 2012. Two politicians were unlawfully charged and current being held in prison in connection by the government in Wau, unconstitutional removal of the two elected Governor of unity and Lake State. Finally, he is now turning his war to Equatorian citizen who express their demand for the Federal system of Governance in the country.

At this junction, we collectively decided to withdraw, up to this time, our individual surrendered sovereignties from the government of the Salva Kiir and strongly call upon the citizenry of the nascent Republic to stage civil disobedience and join the armed struggle across the country to overthrow the barbaric regime in Juba.

We condemn, in the strongest terms possible, the fabricated coup that culminated with massacre of innocent Nuer civilians in Juba by the president’s private army drawn from his clansmen, and at the same time call upon the United Nations to refer the case to an international court to prosecute those responsible for all the crimes committed against humanity. And we are asking the US government to not allowing Salva kiir Mayardit to set foot on the US soil, the land of liberty and freedom.

Believing that, these crises have taken toll on our people, and we cannot stand by doing nothing. It has become clear that after the president dissolved all the party structures, he erased the party from existence, leaving himself as the head of a party that does not exist, a behavior reminiscent of a dictator. His actions showed that he renege from the core principles of which the SPLM/A was founded. With all this sequence of events, the SPLM members in the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan area hereby declare shifting support from the genocidal and non SPLM and dictatorial regime in Juba to the SPLM in opposition (SPLM-O) under the leadership of the former Vice president Dr. Riek Machar with the loudest voice possible.

This is the time to join the call for the removal of this incompetent president. South Sudanese in the Diaspora will engage the international community through diplomatic pressure to impose tougher sanctions against the genocidal government in Juba. We strongly believe our decision to throw our support behind the opposition, following many similar declarations by SPLM –Chapters and South Sudanese Communities in the Diaspora to join the SPLM in Opposition will accelerate the process of toppling Kiir’s undemocratic regime. Under this regime, for the last 10 years, South Sudanese are less united than ever in any other times of its history of struggle, and hence, our tendency as SPLM-O is to promote and preserve the unity of our people.

Therefore, we the undersigned SPLM members in Greater Kansas City have absolutely registered our full support to the SPLM/A in opposition led by the former Vice President Dr. Riek Machar in every capacity, be it in terms of manpower and/or other needed resources.
