CES governor appoints former press secretary Kalisto Ladu as the new mayor of Juba deputized by Thiik Thiik Mayardit

March 23, 2021(Nyamilepedia) — In the process to establish the Juba county authority, the governor of Central Equatoria State, Hon. Emmanuel Adil Anthony, has appointed Hon. Kalisto Ladu Faustino Nyingilo Wani as the new mayor.

CDE Ladu was appointed on Friday through a gubernatorial decree that shall be cited as “Gubernatorial Decree No. 12/2021”

“This Decree shall be cited as’ Gubernatorial Decree No. 12/2021 for the appointed of Mayor and Deputies Mayor for Juba City council, Central Equatoria State 2021 A.D’ and shall come into force on the date of its signature by the governor of Central Equatoria state,” read the decree in parts.

The governor cited the powers conferred to him by the president in his presidential powers and as approved by the constitution of South Sudan.

“In exercise of powers conferred upon me by the Republican Decree No.51/2020 of the President, Republic of South Sudan, read together with Article 99 (2) (a) of the Transitional constitution of Central Equatoria State, 2012 ((as amended) and section 53 (2) of the Local Government Act, 2009,” the decree continued.

Juba City Council has been without a mayor since last year when the government was dissolved following arrangements of the revitalized government.

The new mayor, Ladu, was the former press secretary in the office of the Vice President for Economic Cluster, Dr. James Wani Igga.

Hon. Adil also appointed other officials including two deputy Mayors.

The same decree also announced CDE. Solomon Pitiya Nyambur as the Deputy Mayor for Administration and finance and CDE. Thiik Thiik Mayardit as the Deputy Mayor for Infrastructural Development.

The Decree came into force as signed, on Friday, March 19, 2021.
